Why PhoneFree

A written policy tells you the rule. PhoneFree shows you the practice.

Most school systems are designed to record pupils and behaviour. PhoneFree is focused on one operational question: is your phone policy being implemented consistently across the school?

1

Implement

Give staff one simple routine that fits into the school day.

2

See

Give leaders visibility across periods, year groups and trends.

3

Evidence

Turn everyday checks and incidents into a clear implementation record.

Already have an MIS?

Good. PhoneFree is not trying to replace it.

Your MIS remains your core system for pupil records, attendance and behaviour. PhoneFree adds a purpose built workflow for monitoring phone policy implementation.

Record successful implementation
Not only the incidents that went wrong.
Class level checks
No need to log every pupil when the class is compliant.
Dedicated leadership view
See consistency and gaps across the school.

How it works

One routine. A much clearer picture.

The normal compliant lesson takes one tap. Extra detail is only needed when there is an issue.

Teacher checks the class

At the configured checkpoint, staff tap “Phones away”.

Log only the exceptions

Record a pupil only for a breach, confiscation, refusal or approved exception.

Leaders see the picture

Check completion, incidents and trends appear automatically in the school dashboard.

The essentials

One system. Three jobs.

Teacher check-in

Quick class-level checks linked to the timetable.

!

Incident management

Frequently asked questions

What school leaders usually want to know.

What is PhoneFree?

A purpose built system for implementing, monitoring and evidencing a school mobile phone policy.

Why would we need this if we already use SIMS, Arbor or another MIS?

Your MIS records broad school and pupil information. PhoneFree focuses specifically on whether the phone policy is being implemented consistently, including successful class level checks, not only behaviour incidents.

Do teachers have to log every pupil's phone?

No. The normal workflow is one class-level check. Individual pupils are only recorded when there is a breach, confiscation, refusal or approved exception.

Does PhoneFree decide our school's phone policy?

No. Your school keeps its own policy and sanctions. PhoneFree helps staff apply and evidence that policy consistently.

Is PhoneFree Certification an Ofsted or Department for Education award?

No. PhoneFree Certification is an independent programme. It is not an Ofsted grade, endorsement or Department for Education award.

Can other schools see our data?

No. School data is private to the authorised school. Trust-level users can only see schools they are authorised to access, with pupil-level access restricted by role.

Does PhoneFree replace our MIS or safeguarding system?

No. It is designed to sit alongside existing school systems and focus specifically on phone-policy implementation and evidence.

Can I try it before speaking to anyone?
